Meet Patricio Guevara. Several years ago, Patricio suffered a major stroke that left he and his family devastated. Through the rehabilitative services offered by the Stroke Center he was able to learn to maneuver in a wheel chair and eventually get back on his feet again. Prior to his stroke Patricio was an avid runner putting in 12-15 miles per week. When he saw the flyer for the Human Race he knew this was his opportunityto challenge himself and give back to an important cause in his life. Watch his Video
Community Connection, a Program of the Volunteer Center, has rallied a team of clients, staff and supporters for many years to walk in the race. Clients like Jennifer Wentworth view race day as an opportunity to give back for the mental health services received and to help break stigma about the mental health community. Watch the Video

Balance for Kids- Liz and Abra sharing their training sessions in preparation for walking in the 2012 Human Race. They had a goal of not only raising funds for Balance4Kids to provide teacher grants but finishing the walk this year! Watch the Video.
The Santa Cruz Chapters of Dining for Women (DFW) hosted an event at the 2012 Human Race. The purpose of the event was to build awareness about DFW, to empower women and girls in developing nations, and to support the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center! Watch the Video.
