Adopt-A-Family Holiday Project

As our days grow shorter, many of us shift our thoughts to the joy of the holiday season.

Unfortunately,  an unprecedented number of Santa Cruz County families  struggle with poverty, disabilities, abandonment, or economic strain and the holidays are a worrisome time.

These families  struggle to meet their basic needs and may go without enough food and warm clothing, let alone toys or other holiday gifts.

The 450 families in our program are screened and referred by our 22 partner organizations to ensure that your gift is reaching the neediest in our community.

WAYS TO HELP A FAMILY IN NEED

We invite you to join us in making the holidays brighter for a family in need.

ADOPT A FAMILY

Businesses, individuals, and families can adopt a family of any size. Adopters are asked to provide family packages which include food gift certificates, clothing for the family, a gift for each child, and household items like blankets, towels, or sheets.

VOLUNTEER AS AN ELF

Volunteer opportunities abound  to support the project. View the list of opportunities and register online or call our office at 831-427-5070 to find out how you can volunteer.

TAKE A STAR

Do you only have time to get one gift? Simply pick up a star from our participating local businesses, purchase the gift, and return it to the business between now and Dec 10th. View Locations

DONATE GIFT CERTIFICATES

Gift certificates from any grocery store, shoe store, bookstore or department store let our families choose exactly what they need for the holidays. This season  we have a large number of teens to be adopted and teens in particular, appreciate movie passes, certificates from music stores or clothing store certificates. Certificates can be dropped off at the Santa Cruz or Watsonville Office.
